Tumblr Dashboard Changes - Missing Things
With Tumblr’s new dashboard layout, a couple of things appear to be missing from the Tumblr sidebar. These are not Missing e changes. I may look into ways to improve it, but I will likely wait to see if Tumblr is going to fix the issues on their own or if it indicates more changes they will be making.
The “Customize” button is missing in the blog sidebar.
Again, this is not due to Missing e. However, if you go to your own themed blog URL, you will find a “Customize” button with the Tumblr-related buttons in the top corner of the page (for most themes). You can also find the “Customize” button in the settings page for your blog (go to your Tumblr settings, then click on your blog on the left sidebar).
The “Mass Post Editor” button is missing in the blog sidebar.
Another change that is not due to Missing e. In the meantime, you can go directly to your blog’s Mass Post Editor by entering the URL: http://www.tumblr.com/mega-editor/your-username (change “your-username” to your actual Tumblr username).
New Tumblr Dash Layout - Missing e issues I’m working on
In the last hour, Tumblr pushed out a new dashboard layout.
Some improvements include restoring a (partial) Tumblr blog sidebar element to the main dashboard.
I will be working this weekend to apply style fixes for Missing e and look into any possible improvements.
Please note that I am already hard at work on these issues:
- The Quick Reblog drop-down menu doesn’t show a selection menu for side blogs
- You may not be able to reblog yourself to the same blog as the original post
- Mass Delete buttons don’t show up correctly in the Inbox
If you notice any additional functional issues (a broken Missing e feature), please let me know here.
Missing e v2.3.10 - Fix slow dashboard from version 2.3.7
In version 2.3.7, I improved the performance of styles being applied to dashboard pages to reduce the jittering when you load the page. Turns out I introduced a bug with that that could slow down the endless scrolling dashboard (when you load more posts at the bottom of the page).
This is now fixed in version 2.3.10! Sorry about that!
Updating
If you want the new version immediately, DO NOT uninstall and reinstall Missing e, instead, read the instructions on how to update:
***
Firefox users: Until the new version of the extension is reviewed by the Mozilla Add-Ons site, you can update just by installing the new version over top of your existing one from the versions page.
If version 2.3.10 or higher does not appear in the list, you can wait until later, or use this direct link to install.

Bug Fixes
- Tumblelog pages used to answer messages (ie. /tumblelog/###/messages) now correctly adding images when clicking the “+ Upload photo_” button
- Safe Dash no longer hides editor control buttons when answering messages
- Inline image uploader (the “+ Upload photo” button) now adds images using correct syntax when you are posting with Markdown
Firefox users: Until Missing e is approved in the Mozilla Add-On site, you will have to update your add-on manually by going here.

mr-pharmacist asked: I have a suggestion for missing-e if thats ok. I’d really like it if the buttons for new posts showed up on all pages of the dashboard. Currently it only shows on the first page, if you go to the second one nothing is there. Would it be possible to do this?
Good suggestion!
I want to note one important thing first. Missing e is dedicated to adding features for Tumblr without making significant changes in the way you see your dashboard. I strive to make any additional buttons or icons fit in with Tumblr’s existing style.
There are two major reasons for this:
- It will be easier to quickly adapt Missing e to any layout changes the Tumblr staff choose to make.
- I want Missing e to encourage you to love Tumblr more, not impose one person’s idea of good style changes on everyone.
These are the reasons why I’ve made Missing e highly configurable so you can turn on/off any of the features you may not want.
That being said, I do think this is a good idea. Instead of adding the post icons on every dashboard page, the upcoming 1.0.65 version of Missing e will add simple, muted text links for new posts to the top of secondary dashboard pages (ie. /dashboard/2/*, /dashboard/3/*).
It will look something like this:
You’ll be able to turn this off via the settings, in Dashboard Features, under Dashboard Fixes.
