Chrome Photo Reply - not a Missing e problem
Please note that although many Chrome users are observing that the Tumblr photo reply feature does not appear to work, this is not a Missing e problem.
The same issue occurs with Missing e disabled or not installed.
Hopefully, Tumblr is looking into the issue, which has, no doubt, been submitted by many users.
Tumblr Dashboard Changes - Missing Things
With Tumblr’s new dashboard layout, a couple of things appear to be missing from the Tumblr sidebar. These are not Missing e changes. I may look into ways to improve it, but I will likely wait to see if Tumblr is going to fix the issues on their own or if it indicates more changes they will be making.
The “Customize” button is missing in the blog sidebar.
Again, this is not due to Missing e. However, if you go to your own themed blog URL, you will find a “Customize” button with the Tumblr-related buttons in the top corner of the page (for most themes). You can also find the “Customize” button in the settings page for your blog (go to your Tumblr settings, then click on your blog on the left sidebar).
The “Mass Post Editor” button is missing in the blog sidebar.
Another change that is not due to Missing e. In the meantime, you can go directly to your blog’s Mass Post Editor by entering the URL: http://www.tumblr.com/mega-editor/your-username (change “your-username” to your actual Tumblr username).
New Tumblr Dash Layout - Missing e issues I’m working on
In the last hour, Tumblr pushed out a new dashboard layout.
Some improvements include restoring a (partial) Tumblr blog sidebar element to the main dashboard.
I will be working this weekend to apply style fixes for Missing e and look into any possible improvements.
Please note that I am already hard at work on these issues:
- The Quick Reblog drop-down menu doesn’t show a selection menu for side blogs
- You may not be able to reblog yourself to the same blog as the original post
- Mass Delete buttons don’t show up correctly in the Inbox
If you notice any additional functional issues (a broken Missing e feature), please let me know here.
Do you get Tumblr's 'Missing e' warning multiple times after you acknowledge it?
Tumblr displays a warning message to users of Missing e, highlighting what they believe are potential risks, and ask users to acknowledge before continuing to use Tumblr. However, many users are finding that to continue using Missing e, they have to acknowledge this warning multiple times. In fact, some non-Missing e users are receiving the warning, too!
First, Educate Yourself
While I strongly encourage you to read Tumblr’s warning, and Missing e’s official response explaining why the browser extension is safe to use, I realize that a repetitive popup message can be aggravating.
You Can Do Something About Repeated Warnings
It is not likely that Missing e will ever hide or prevent this warning from being displayed, but many users have found a simple, alternative solution that works to hide this warning after it has been read and acknowledged at least once.

Q:I looked through the faq, and I saw a question similar to this, but I've been hearing that tumblr (not missing e itself) is deleting any accounts that are using missing e. I uninstalled it just to be safe, but is this true?
No. Tumblr has recently demonstrated (please read) that while they do not desire their users to install Missing e, they will not remove accounts for using it or any other extension. Instead, they have opted to limit the amount of technical support these users can receive.
There are many times that users have been suspended for inappropriate activities, but not one case I have ever heard of where Tumblr cited Missing e use as the cause. In any case where you hear this, it is usually misinformation, or assumptions made by a small number of users not based on facts.
It is always best not to propagate rumours as facts.
Missing e is not the cause of recent account trouble some people are experiencing.
When logging in, some Missing e users are seeing the above screen, but it is also happening to people not using Missing e.
Sometimes, this can mean that your account has been accessed by someone without permission. Perhaps you have entered your password on a page that was actually intended to look like Tumblr, but was actually a phishing attack where someone uses a fake form to steal your password?
Change your password and keep it secure.
Above all, make sure that you only enter or change your password on a secure Tumblr page. Here is a Tumblr staff post on how to recognize secure Tumblr pages: http://staff.tumblr.com/post/15260097735/ev-cert
UPDATE:
As I find out more, it appears that the problem may not be compromised passwords but a bit of a mixup on Tumblr’s end.
UPDATE:
That link to a Tumblr tweet may point to removed tweet. Tumblr has since tweeted about this exact issue: https://twitter.com/tumblr/status/212702358604480513
I’ve been on Tumblr a bit longer than Missing e’s been available… but not by much!
Today is my second Tumblrversary / Tumblrthday!
I spent quite some time on Twitter before friends I made there dragged me over here. They made a big deal about Tumblr being great for socializing and sharing yourself with friends and strangers (things I quite enjoy doing).
You know what? They were right. I found communities here to belong to and became addicted to using the dashboard, a social tool the likes of which I’d never experienced.
I’ve written some great posts here of which I’ve been quite proud, I’ve made new friends (many of whom I’ve met in person, even on different continents), and even created a neat browser extension for Tumblr that one or two of you might have installed!
I look forward to an even better third year here on Tumblr.
Hoi!
Today we’re thrilled to announce the addition of our 12th supported language on Tumblr: Dutch!
You can change your language settings on your Preferences page and keep up with the latest Tumblr news on the Dutch Staff Blog.
And if you’re in Amsterdam on Thursday, May 31st, be sure to join us for Tumblr’s official Dutch Launch Party!
Just a reminder that Missing e already supports Dutch!
Make sure yours is up to date: http://missing-e.com/update
Your queue isn’t working? It isn’t a Missing e problem!
I’ve been getting a lot of support emails about this, so I will address it here also.
If your queue isn’t posting on time (or at all), this is not a Missing e problem.
Missing e cannot interfere with queue posting. Once a post is in your queue, it is up to the Tumblr servers to post them on time. It is not possible for a browser extension to interfere with something already there.
Tumblr is already aware of the problem and is working to fix it.
Having trouble replying to posts or using the ‘i’ menu on Tumblr avatars?
This isn’t a Missing e problem, as the problem doesn’t go away when Missing e is disabled. It looks like a Tumblr error that I am sure they will fix soon!
If their upcoming fix causes any problems with Missing e, I will be on top of it and make changes as necessary.
