Missing e v2.9.7 - Fix for slow Quick Reblog in Chrome

Why ‘Missing e’ will not remove all comments when quick reblogging.

Many people have asked me if I could add an option to the Quick (1-Click) Reblog feature that would reblog a post and automatically remove all previous comments.

Well, why not?

The reason is pretty simple: it would be abused.

Often, Tumblr users post with important comments, like ones that explain the source of a photo or about the creation of a video. I believe that these kinds of comments should stay with the post.

For example, many people post photos on Tumblr that might be copyrighted by or may be personal to the poster. Too many Tumblrs reblog these photos and delete comments (which could be important to the original poster) just so they can have a “clean-looking” blog. I don’t think this is a good practice. I have no intention of perpetuating it or making it simpler to do.

But, what about those huge reblog chains?

I understand. If there is anything that makes Tumblr what it is, it’s reblogging. Things get out of hand, though. Who wants to see a huge reblog chain with many layers of those unsightly quote bars?

The problem is that it is not really possible for a browser extension to determine when the original commentary on a post is worthwhile. So, I must err on the side of caution.

Besides, if there’s all those reblog quotes, you can just click on the username of one of the earlier posters to jump directly to their reblog of the post and reblog it yourself, without all the quote bars!

Missing e v 2.7.10 - Fixed bookmarks and some new features

This new version has a few fixes for some minor issues related to Tumblr’s new post icons.

Most important are a few other changes, though.

~ Bookmarks (Error Page) ~

Some change was made in Tumblr’s backend that caused many Missing e bookmarks to display an error page when you try to load them. With the help of several Missing e users, I believe the problem is now fixed!

~ Quick Reblog Tag Input ~

There’s a couple of changes here that were suggested by Missing e users like you.

First, the input box for tags in the Quick (1-Click) Reblog menu has been increased in size to make it easier to add/edit a larger group of tags for your reblogs:

Second, a new keyboard shortcut has been added for quick reblog users (find out how to activate quick reblogging) In order add/edit tags without having to hover your mouse over a reblog button, just hit the T key to open the tags box. Once you are done, hit Enter or Return to complete the tags and then the normal R, Q or D keys to reblog the post (or reblog to your queue or drafts).

~ Auto-Tag Reblogs ~

A new option has been added to the Better Reblogs feature. Much like the existing option in Posting Tweaks that allows you to specify tags to automatically add to posts that you queue, you can now specify one or more tags that will automatically be added to posts when you reblog them!

Updating

If you want the new version immediately, DO NOT uninstall and reinstall Missing e, instead, read the instructions on how to update:

Missing e v2.7.3 - Fix for Quick Reblogging Menu + Reduced Post Icons Issue

Sorry for all the updates today!

A couple of people quickly got to me about a problem with the new reduced icons option. If you use that option, it is difficult to use the Quick (1-click) Reblog menu, as it disappears pretty quickly when you try to move your mouse to it.

This is now fixed in version 2.7.3!

Tumblr-based Quick Reblogging coming?

Based on what I am seeing in the new code for Tumblr’s post buttons, it appears as though they are looking into implementing some type of Quick Reblogging feature in the default Tumblr interface (though it is not yet released).

If this new feature is added to Tumblr, Missing e won’t be far behind improving and extending the useful addition!

Missing e v2.6.12 - Fix Quick Reblog Menu Hiding

Looks like changes to the Tumblr interface have caused Missing e’s Quick (1-Click) Reblog menu to show up under some photos instead of on top.

This has been fixed in version 2.6.12!

Last week, a change to the Tumblr interface broke Missing e’s Quick Reblogging feature. That very same day, it was fixed.

If you are still having problems, all you need to do is to update Missing e to the most current version (currently 2.6.2).

However, some users seem to have been using similar quick reblog features from other scripts and extensions, namely Tumblr Life and XKit. Both of these suffered from the same problem as Missing e when the change was made. I know that XKit has since been fixed, but I don’t believe Tumblr Life is being actively developed.

If you update Missing e to a version higher than 2.5.14 (that’s where the fix was added), but Quick Reblogging still doesn’t work, answer these questions to work out the problem:

Does a quick reblog menu show up when hover the mouse over a reblog button on a dashboard post?

If not, you need to activate/re-activate this feature (find out how)

Does the quick reblog menu look like the screenshot at the top of this post?

If it does not, you may be using similar functionality in another script/extension that has stopped working. Uninstall Tumblr Life or XKit (or just XKit’s quick reblog feature), and make sure that Missing e’s quick reblog feature is active (find out how)

Reminder: Quick Reblogging or Ask Tweaks not working? Update Missing e!

This is a repeated post for some users who did not see the earlier notice.

There was a change to the Tumblr posting interface two days ago that broke Missing e’s Quick Reblog feature and some of the Ask Tweaks feature.

Users of older versions may have trouble answering messages from their inbox, others may find that they are unable to use the quick reblogging feature.

I fixed the issue that same day, so you can update now!

Make sure you browser updates Missing e to version 2.5.13 or higher! If it doesn’t, let me know!
