Missing e site back up!
Looks like the problem with the Missing e site was on my end, so I was able to resolve it quickly.
Everything should be back to normal (including Post Crushes)!
I’ve updated the layout of the Post Crushes feature to match what you see on your /following page.
No need to update Missing e, this change will be automatic for you!
Missing e v1.6.3 - New Server for Post Crushes
It looks like the server that is used to generate your Post Crushes images is finally down for the count.
With Missing e 1.6.3, I’ve moved the generator to missinge.infraware.ca’s servers, where it should be a lot more reliable.
Anybody using earlier versions of Missing e will find that the Post Crushes feature will always have errors uploading the image.
If you want the new version immediately, DO NOT uninstall and reinstall Missing e, instead, read the instructions on how to update:

Post Crushes feature is working now
There seems to have been some sort of change on the server that generates your Post Crushes images. I had to make some modifications, but it appears to be working now!
Bad things come in some multiple of some number…
Looks like the Post Crushes feature isn’t working at the moment. The site that generates the crush image is currently undergoing maintenance!
Having trouble with the Post Crushes feature, today?
First of all, if you have a version Missing e older than 1.1.4, make sure to update it, as there was a Post Crushes problem that was solved with that update.
Otherwise, the free server on which the Post Crushes generator runs (missinge.host22.com, which is not the same server on which the website runs) seems to be having a pretty terrible service day. Just try it again.
Basically, this is how Post Crushes works:
- You load your following page
- You click on the Post Crushes generator link under your crushes
- A post is automatically generated with your crushes (as links to their Tumblrs)
- There is a URL pre-filled that points to the Post Crushes generator
- When you click “Create Post” (or what have you), Tumblr attempts to get the generated image from the generator site
- The generator site gets the filenames of all the Tumblr avatars in your crushes, and your options (big avatar/small avatar, show percentages, etc) and builds a crush image (independent of the one you see on your following page), then returns it to Tumblr to post
- When there’s a problem here or the generator site takes to long, Tumblr tells you there was an error
So, today, it appears that the generator site is running slowly. I apologize for that, but there’s nothing I can do. If it continues for a long time, I will look into finding another server to host the generator script!
Version 1.1.4: Fixed Post Crushes Uploading Problem
Looks like Tumblr was having issues accepting longer URLs for uploaded photos. So, I’ve modified the server-side script to accept a shorter URL from Tumblr when getting your crushes image.
You should be able to continue posting your crushes as before with Missing e version 1.1.4.
Firefox users: Since Missing e has not yet been reviewed, you will have to manually update your add-on at this site!
Post Crushes Issues
I’m looking into it, but at the moment, I have no idea why Tumblr won’t accept Post Crushes images generated by the external server. The generated URL clearly works, you can copy it from the automatically-generated post and open it in a new tab, but it just keeps saying “Error uploading photo”!
In the meantime, you can copy the URL that is automatically generated, load it in a new tab and save the image to your hard drive. Then, upload it (instead of using the URL). It’s a terrible that that is necessary, but it’ll work for now.
